Germany's largest gastronomy summit, "Rolling Pin.Convention," will take place in Düsseldorf starting in 2024

September 28, 2023

Germany's largest gastronomy summit, the "Rolling Pin Convention," is moving from Berlin to Düsseldorf. This special congress and industry gathering, with around 10,000 professionals from the gastronomy scene, will take place for the first time in the fall of 2024 at Areal Böhler. Numerous top chefs and newcomers participate in masterclasses, exhibitions, and debates every year. The awards presented at the event are considered the Oscars of the German gastronomy industry among chefs and sommeliers.

The metropolitan region offers ideal conditions for the move

"The North Rhine-Westphalia state capital, as the center of a vibrant gastronomy scene in the metropolitan region between the Rhine and the Ruhr, offers excellent conditions for a successful convention. We made the decision to move because all partners are committed to success and are convinced of the potential of Düsseldorf as a gastronomy hotspot," says Jürgen Pichler, founder and CEO of Rolling Pin. The Mayor of the state capital, Dr. Stephan Keller, had the idea of bringing this unique industry event to the Rhine after initial discussions with Jürgen Pichler and co-organizer METRO. He was able to enlist strong partners, including the Economic Development Agency and the IHK Düsseldorf, the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), and Düsseldorf Convention.

"Convinced that we can become the gastronomy capital."

"An attractive gastronomy scene contributes to a livable city. This applies in particular to Düsseldorf. Because our city, as well as gastronomy in its entire range, stands for hospitality, enjoyment, and community! That's why I am convinced that we can become the gastronomy capital if we all work together on it. Together with METRO, the IHK, Dehoga, the Office of Economic Development, and Düsseldorf Convention, we have taken another important step towards this common goal. I thank all partners for their efforts, Kerstin Rapp-Schwan for bringing together the relevant actors, and of course Jürgen Pichler for his trust. Düsseldorf will present itself as an excellent host for the Rolling Pin Convention and looks forward to welcoming the renowned representatives of the gastronomy scene as our guests."

A milestone for the Düsseldorf location

On the city's side, the project is led by Düsseldorf Convention, a division of the city subsidiary Düsseldorf Marketing GmbH. Frank Schrader, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Marketing and Düsseldorf Tourism: "The Rolling Pin Convention from 2024 in Düsseldorf! This is like a milestone for the gastronomy location Düsseldorf and makes us as a city even more attractive, not only for tourists. The project also shows what we can achieve when we work together towards a goal – thanks to all partners – this is perfect teamwork!"
