Ophthalmologists convene at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf - more than 4,500 specialist visitors expected.

March 06, 2024

Already for the 24th time, Germany's largest continuing education congress in ophthalmology - the Ophthalmological Academy Germany (AAD) - will take place at the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf. From March 6th to 9th, 2024, around 4,500 specialist visitors are expected in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital. The major congress is organized in a joint effort by the Professional Association of Ophthalmologists (BVA) and the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG).

Diverse program for all interest groups

The event program reflects the broad spectrum of ophthalmology and is aimed equally at physicians, medical students, and ophthalmic assistant personnel. With numerous wet labs and dry labs, the AAD offers participants the opportunity to enhance their diagnostic, therapeutic, and practical skills. "This balanced offering of theory and practice distinguishes the AAD Congress," says DOG Secretary General Prof. Claus Cursiefen.

Trade show as a complement to the congress experience

An extensive industry exhibition complements the congress experience and, together with the lecture and course program, provides a successful basis for intensive exchange, valuable discussions, and new impulses.

A fixed date in the calendar of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf "Like numerous other medical and scientific congresses, the AAD has been a fixture in the calendar of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf for many years. This once again emphasizes the importance of the location for medical congresses. The state capital scores with event planners not only with suitable premises but also with an excellent infrastructure and local expertise. First-class research institutions and leading companies in the medical field are located here in and around the state capital," explains Maria Kofidou, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Congress GmbH.

The first Ophthalmological Academy Germany took place in Düsseldorf in 2000, and since then, the specialist congress has been held every year in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital, except for 2010 and 2020. Fixed dates in the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf for the AAD are also reserved for the coming years.

"The AAD program commission exchanges around a third of the entire course and program plan every year. This ensures that we provide relevant and interesting content every year. We look forward to the participants and wish everyone an exciting congress," says Daniel Pleger, Chairman of the BVA.
