Sustainable events in Düsseldorf

Orientation and guidelines for demonstrable sustainability at the location are provided, among others, by the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and the 16 Steps Initiative for climate neutrality in the events industry.

These goals align with the objectives of Düsseldorf Convention across its entire scope of action—in its own event planning, in collaboration with its partner network "Düsseldorf Convention Partner," in its initiatives and measures, and as a consultant and driving force for international and national event planners.

Overview of sustainability measures by our partners

Our partners are actively committed to sustainable events. Their profiles in the Meeting Guide provide transparent insights into their environmental practices.
The survey and presentation of sustainability measures are based on the Event Guidelines by the German Environment Agency and the Sustainability Rider, derived from the initiative "16 Steps to 2025 – Towards Carbon-Neutral Events."

Currently, Step 11 of the "16 Steps" initiative, focusing on water, is a key topic (see press release). Many partner venues are already taking action – from water-saving technologies to eco-friendly cleaning solutions.

Sustainability Rider

Inspired by the 16 Steps Initiative, the Sustainability Rider was developed: a concise checklist and guide with 13 steps and tips for your sustainable event in Düsseldorf.
